A Famous but Incorrect Supplication!
The Correct Supplication from the Commander of the Faithful (as)!
A man once said in the presence of the Leader of the God-conscious, Imam Ali (A.S.):“O Allah! Do not make me dependent on Your creation.”The Imam (A.S.) responded: “Do not say it like that.”The man asked, “Then how should I say it?”The Imam (A.S.) said: “Say this instead: O Allah! Do not make me dependent on the evil ones among Your creation.”
Is it possible to be independent of creatures?
Praying not to be in need of creation contradicts reality, because human nature is such that, in the race of worldly life, one is always in need of others.
correct meaning of “Iyyaka Na’budu wa Iyyaka Nasta’een”?
*“Iyyaka Nasta’een”* (You alone we ask for help) does not mean that one should never take help from others. This verse of the Qur’an teaches us that our ultimate refuge, our true trust and reliance, should only be on God.The worldly things from which a person seeks help should be regarded merely as means, and even one’s own physical strength, intellectual abilities, and all other resources are blessings created by Allah. The authority over all these rests with Allah alone.
Real authority belongs to God!
In this world, a person relies on many resources, but later finds that those resources often fail to meet expectations. Sometimes one trusts in one’s own abilities, but even they fall short. There is only one power that never disappoints if trusted — and that is the power of God.

امیرالمومنینؑ کی جانب سے صحیح دعا!
ایک شخص نے امام المتقین امام علی ع کے سامنے میں یہ دعا کی: “خدایا! مجھے اپنی مخلوق کا محتاج نہ بنا۔” مولا ع نے فرمایا: “ایسے نہ کہو۔” اس نے عرض کی: “تو پھر کیسے کہوں؟” فرمایا: “یوں کہو: خدایا! مجھے اپنی مخلوق کے بُرے لوگوں کا محتاج نہ بنا۔“
کیا مخلوق سے بے نیاز ہونا ممکن ہے؟
مخلوق کا محتاج نہ بنانے کی دعا حقیقت کے خلاف ہے، کیونکہ انسان کی خلقت ایسی ہے کہ دنیاوی زندگی کی دوڑ میں ہمیشہ دوسروں کا محتاج رہتا ہے۔
“ایاک نستعین” کا صحیح معنیٰ؟
“ایاک نستعین” (تجھ سے ہی مدد مانگتے ہیں) کا مطلب بھی یہ نہیں کہ انسان دوسروں سے مدد نہ لے۔ قرآن کی یہ آیت ہمیں یہ سمجھاتی ہے کہ انسان کا آخری سہارا، اس کا حقیقی اعتماد اور پھروسہ صرف خدا پر ہونا چاہیے۔ دنیا میں جن چیزوں سے انسان مدد لیتا ہے، ان کو محض ایک وسیلہ سمجھے، اور خود اس کی جسمانی قوتیں، دماغی طاقتیں اور دیگر تمام وسائل سب بھی اللہ کی پیدا کردہ نعمتیں ہیں اور ان سب کا اختیار اللہ ہی کے ہاتھ میں ہے۔
مخلوق وسیلہ ہے، اصل اختیار خدا کا ہے!
انسان دنیا میں بہت سے وسائل پر بھروسہ کرتا ہے، مگر بعد میں دیکھتا ہے کہ وہ وسائل اس کی امیدوں پر پورے نہیں اترے۔ کبھی انسان اپنی ذاتی قوتوں پر بھروسہ کرتا ہے، لیکن وہ بھی ناکام ہو جاتی ہیں۔ بس ایک ہی طاقت ہے کہ اگر انسان اس پر بھروسہ کرے تو کبھی مایوس نہ ہوگا، اور وہ طاقت صرف خدا ہے۔
